More on the A.J. Green celebration penalty

Many people, including me, believe that the celebration penalty on A.J. Green was total BS. Well, you're right. This video proves it.

Are you angrier than you were before? You should be.

However, as the Georgia Sports Blog points out, this is NOT the only thing that cost us the game. Our horrible first half offense, Blair Walsh's screwed-up field goal, terrible kick coverage, and a few missed tackles also contributed. Those things helped the momentum swing back in LSU's favor just after we captured it.

They also correctly point out that you can't fully blame Willie Martinez for the last touchdown. Rennie Curran was the one who missed the tackle, not Martinez.

A more interesting point is that SEC Supervisor of Officials Rogers Redding told the Athens Banner Herald that the video embedded above does not support the celebration call. It was also reported that the ref who threw the flag feels bad about it. However, that does NOT fix the problem. Better officiating WOULD fix the problem.
