Basketball practices started today

Georgia's basketball practices for the 2009-10 season started tonight in Athens. The Hoop Dawgs had their first practice and started learning the triangle offense. I was going to post a link to explain what this means, but onlineathens.com is currently infected with a disguised virus. DO NOT TRY TO ACCESS ONLINEATHENS.COM.

Returning players include Trey Thompkins, Dustin Ware, Albert Jackson, Chris Barnes, Jeremy Price, Travis Leslie, Drazen Zlovaric, and Ebuka Anyaorah.

Last year, the Dawgs had a completely terrible season that included the firing of head coach Dennis Felton. Our new head coach, Mark Fox, is going to rebuild the program, but that won't happen overnight. Taking our basketball program from a 12-20 season (3-13 SEC) to a successful team takes time.

To me, the biggest issue with our basketball program is the recruiting. There are some VERY good basketball recruits in the state of Georgia, but most of them end up going out of state, and the ones who don't go to Tech. Mark Fox's first priority should be to teach the team the triangle offense. After that, he needs to solely focus on recruiting as the best way to rebuild the program.
