The AJC and ESPN are reporting that Georgia offensive tackle Trinton Sturdivant is out for the season...again. After missing last year with three torn ligaments in his left knee, the Dawgs' best offensive lineman hoped to rebound this year. However, he will be out for the 2009 season after reinjuring the knee during Georgia's 24-10 loss to Oklahoma State.
An MRI done on Sunday revealed that the injury was a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The severity of the injury is only the latest bad news coming from Stilwater after Georgia's loss to the Cowboys.
In 2007, Sturdivant started all 13 games for the Dawgs. He played so well that he was named to some freshman All-America teams. He also played a key role in Georgia's 41-10 blowout of previously-unbeaten Hawaii.
Several sources from UGA have said that if Sturdivant recovers like he did last year, he will play again in his senior season next year. Let's hope he can recover like that, because if he can't, we'll be terrible next year too.
