One of the wildest games in recent Bulldog history came out in a 41-37 Georgia win over South Carolina. After the Cocks scored five minutes into the first quarter, Brandon Boykin set a UGA record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The game everyone had expected to be a defensive showdown then turned into an offensive shootout.
The most either team had scored in this series for over eight years was 18 points. That record was broken only one minute into the second quarter when Branden Smith scored on a 61-yard reverse run. The (shocking) halftime score was 31-23 UGA.
The game then went down to a fourth-down play late in the fourth quarter. South Carolina had the ball on Georgia's 7-yard line. Weak-side linebacker Rennie Curran took a quick step forward thinking he would have to make a tackle. Instead, Gamecock quarterback Stephen Garcia threw the ball. Curran stopped, stuck up his left hand, and batted down the pass to secure the Georgia victory.
It's also good to know that the Georgia State Patrol doesn't change its allegiance, even if they're assigned to guarding Steve Spurrier. Click here to find out what this means (YouTube video).
