Dawgs Drop to 21st in the AP Poll

Georgia dropped to #21 in today's AP Poll after losing to Oklahoma State 24-10. They fell eight places from their preseason #13 ranking. They also fell to #21 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The victorious Cowboys rose from #11 to #5.

Florida kept the #1 spot in both polls after crushing Charleston Southern. However, the Gators did lose two first-place votes to Alabama.

The SEC only has two teams in the top ten right now (considering that they had five last year). Here's a look at the top ten of the AP Poll:
1. Florida (58)
2. Texas (2)
3. USC
4. Alabama (2)
5. Oklahoma State
6. Ole Miss
7. Penn State
8. Ohio State
9. Brigham Young
10. California

Oklahoma dropped to #13 after being upset by BYU on a neutral field in Dallas. Other notable rankings are Virginia Tech (#14), Georgia Tech (remained #15), and Miami (#20). Florida State dropped out of the rankings after their loss to Miami.

By the way, half of the Ole Miss football team has the flu. This half includes Jevan Snead, the star quarterback who transferred from Texas to Florida and finally to Ole Miss. We'll have to see how that affects the Rebels in their game this Saturday. The team is still waiting for tests to determine if the sickness is swine flu.

Also, here are Georgia's five areas to improve for the South Carolina game (as determined by the Georgia Sports Blog):
1. Let A.J. be A.J.
2. When plays work on offense, call them again. Those are the good ones.
3. Find a way to punt without relying on the Wynn Kopp Signature 30-40 Yard Roll (TM).
4. Cover kickoff returns. Running up to the returner and falling down isn't the ideal way to earn a scholarship.
5. Learn to jump over the chalk on the field. The yard markers should not have multiple tackles per game.
