Georgia will open SEC play this Saturday night in Athens against South Carolina. The Dawgs are 2-1 against the Gamecocks in the past three years. Here are the results from 2006-2008:
2006: Georgia 18, South Carolina 0 (Columbia)
2007: South Carolina 16, Georgia 12 (Athens)
2008: Georgia 14, South Carolina 7 (Columbia)
Obviously, this year's game will be in Athens.
UGAsports.com and ESPN are reporting that Joe Cox will not start against the Gamecocks due to a shoulder injury and that Logan Gray will start instead. However, multiple other sites are saying that Cox will start, but both QBs will get playing time. Personally, I'm up for giving Logan Gray the starting job after watching Cox play against Oklahoma State.
UGA game report:
Last game: Oklahoma State 24, Georgia 10 (Stillwater)
Georgia's defense greatly improved from last year's horrors, but the offense looked terrible.
South Carolina game report:
Last game: South Carolina 7, NC State 3
South Carolina's defense also looked very good, but the offense was also terrible. The game against UGA should be a defensive struggle.
The game will be televised by ESPN2 at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
