Arizona Manager Andy Lopez Compliments Dawgs

The Diamond Dawgs have been impressive so far this season, but according to the article in the Daily Wildcat, Arizona skipper Andy Lopez may be the most impressed person out there. Lopez doesn't think the Wildcats played bad in Georgia's sweep, he just thinks the Dawgs played way better. He said that he hasn't "seen (an offense) like that in a long, long time."

Lopez especially liked Jonathan Taylor:
UA pitchers had a particularly difficult time containing freshman outfielder Jonathan Taylor. The speedy leadoff hitter went a combined 6-for-13 from the dish and scored seven runs.
"I would give the Golden Spikes Award to (Jonathan) Taylor right now if I could," Lopez said.

For those of you who aren't familiar with college baseball, the Golden Spikes Award is the baseball version of the Heisman Trophy.

Lopez isn't some coach with no experience, either. He's led three different teams to Omaha, coached Brad Wilkerson to a Golden Spikes Award, and won a national title with Pepperdine in 1992.
