Georgia Scores Just 40 Points in Loss at Vanderbilt

The Georgia basketball team traveled to Nashville last night and did not come up with much scoring at all, losing 50-40 to the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Dawgs only attempted two free throws in the whole game, and that came in the final four minutes. Not surprisingly, Corey Butler missed both.

However, the 40 points scored wasn't an all-time low for Georgia under head coach Dennis Felton. In 2004, Georgia scored 39 points in a loss to Vanderbilt. They followed up that effort by scoring 37 against Vanderbilt in 2005. In the very next game, Florida held them to 38 points in Athens.

The stat of the game was the two free throws attempted by the Dawgs. Georgia couldn't score anything from the inside, and had a terrible day in three-point shots (4-for-17), and all that doomed them again in Nashville.

Sunday the Dawgs will attempt to avoid opening 0-3 in SEC play when the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team visits Athens. They're coming off a 90-72 win at Tennessee. Guard Jodie Meeks scored 54 points against the Vols.
