Richt Says Drop to #3 is Just Fine

Arizona State's fall out of the top 25 on Sunday bothered Mark Richt more than seeing his team drop to #3.

Georgia has dropped from #1 to #3 in the AP Poll after winning its first three games. The last team to do this was Oklahoma in 1985. "I'm really not worried about it," Richt said Sunday. "We can't control it. We can control trying to win the SEC's Eastern Division."

Georgia beat South Carolina 14-7 on Saturday in their SEC opener. The low score was typical for the matchup. Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford acknowledged that many of their SEC games would be close. Oklahoma beat Washington 55-14 and moved past the Dawgs to #2.

Arizona State was #15 before losing to UNLV 23-20 in overtime. Richt says he wished the Sun Devils would have won because it would make a close score to Arizona State when they're #15 much better than a close score when they're unranked.

The SEC has confirmed that this is the first time they've ever had five teams in the top 10 of the AP Poll.
